Who can join
Open to High School Sophomores and Juniors
5 students per school will be selected through the DIRHA application process
No minimum GPA requirement
No financial cost to students
UCI undergraduate students who are interested in becoming a DIRHA Mentor should contact
DIRHA@uci.edu.
Each High School must have a teacher or staff member to serve as an advisor & liaison
for the program
Teacher/Staff will receive a $1,500 stipend (see Description of Duties below)

Mentorship
- Attend all seminars
- Communicate with undergraduate mentor (especially to coordinate high school visits)
- Advise student projects in collaboration with mentors (regarding resources available and deadlines to meet)
*Students make final decision of their project goals and theme
Transportation Coordination
- Coordinate with your administration to secure student transportation to and from UC Irvine
- Connect your administration or transportation office to DIRHA staff so they may collect insurance certificates
Communication
- Keep DIRHA staff informed regarding feedback and student engagement with material
- Follow up with students to remind them to submit waivers and forms on time
Finances
- Liaison will receive a $1,500 stipend
- High School can bill OCDE up to $1,000 transportation costs DIRHA will cover substitute teacher day cost for field trips
